Rotary International concentrates its efforts to maximize both local and global impact. Rotary’s most successful and sustainable projects tend to address the following causes. All humanitarian initiatives—whether led by scholars, vocational training teams, or other groups funded by The Rotary Foundation’s global grants—work toward specific goals within these areas of focus:
Peacebuilding and conflict prevention: Rotary fosters dialogue to promote understanding within and across cultures. It trains adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict and to support refugees who have fled dangerous regions.
Disease prevention and treatment: Rotary educates and equips communities to help stop the spread of life-threatening diseases such as polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. It improves and expands access to low-cost and free health care in developing areas.
Water, sanitation, and hygiene: Rotary supports local solutions to provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people. It shares expertise and collaborates with community leaders and educators to ensure long-term project success.
Stay tuned to learn about the other areas of focus next week!
At the September 25th lunch meeting/day of our District Governor Visit, Wayne General will bring his backdrop and studio lights! He has volunteered to take individual or group portraits done with the DG or by yourselves for personal use. Portraits will be taken after the meeting. Dress in any attire you wish!
As Rotarians, we are regularly exposed to opportunities to support various causes with our time, talent and treasure. Sometimes it is hard to sift through all the information and decide where we are going to use our available financial resources.
It would be wonderful if every Mesa West Rotarian would make the following BIG FOUR their Rotary charities of choice and support every one of them every year, we could make a bigger difference than we are making today.
