Participate every year in a Rotary Foundation program that makes a difference in the world
Contribute $ every year to the Foundation’s Annual Rund at a sustainable amount
The Foundation recognizes a club as an “Every Rotarian, Every Year Club if its giving reaches US$100 per capita or more and all dues-paying members gives at least $25 in a year.
Today, about one-third of Rotarians participate in this initiative. Thanks in part to the generosity of these donors, the Foundation awarded more than 1098 global grans in 2022-23 for large-scale, sustainable projects. Think about how much more Rotary could accomplish if every member gave at least $25 to the Annual Fund?
Thank you for supporting the Every Rotarian, Every Year Initiative!
Don and Betsy Savino from the Rotary Club of Playa Coronado in Panama are former members of the Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club. They are involved with a Global Grant (GG-2575173 RACHEL Growing In PANAMA) to set up remote community hotspots. This project was initially piloted in six remote schools across Coclé and Panama Oeste provinces and was then expanded to 18 more schools, impacting over 120,000 students who previously had no internet access. Each school received vital hardware, a RACHEL Plus, a UPS and 10 laptop computers - paired with comprehensive teacher training in digital competencies. Now, Panama's Ministry of Education is requesting expansion to 50 additional schools.
They are short of their ultimate fundraising goal for this new global grant and are asking for donation pledges from anyone who is interested.

The annual Guaymas Ayudame a Escuchar mission is rapidly approaching. There are a few ways that you can continue to help support us:
Join us as a runner and/or interpreter. The dates are November 5-9. Wednesday is a travel day, Thursday will have some time to get to know the city of Guaymas, followed by set-up and team-planning meeting. Clinic runs on Friday and Saturday, followed by travel home on Sunday. To be respectful of the Foundation budget, we will be returning to the past practice of charging a $200 fee to attend.
Some of our students attending cannot afford the $200 dollar charge. If you would like to specifically sponsor a student, please let me know.
As always, we bring down candy. There is not a meeting between Halloween and our departure, so if you see sales on candy to bring by the October 30 meeting we would greatly appreciate it. This is a great way to outreach to those around you about the service that Rotary does.
Those of you who have attended in the past may remember how patients line up for some time waiting to be seen. We are making changes to the workflow to improve this, but would also like to look into the possibility of providing sandwiches for those patients. If this is something you would like to support, please also let me know.
As Rotarians, we are regularly exposed to opportunities to support various causes with our time, talent and treasure. Sometimes it is hard to sift through all the information and decide where we are going to use our available financial resources.
It would be wonderful if every Mesa West Rotarian would make the following BIG FOUR their Rotary charities of choice and support every one of them every year, we could make a bigger difference than we are making today.
