Lee Holmes has visited our club a few times. He is our current Assistant Governor (AG), working with the four Mesa Rotary Clubs: Mesa, Mesa East, Mesa West and Mesa Sunrise. He replaced Rory Gilbert who had to resign due to health challenges earlier this year. In this photo, Lee is shown at his former District 6000 breakfast at the Rotary International Convention being held this week in Toronto, Canada.Lee is new to District 5495. A retired veterinarian, he and his wife moved to Gold Canyon in June, 2017 from Griswold, Iowa. He has been a Rotarian since 1998 in District 6000. He is a former AG with that district. In Iowa, he was a member of the Waukee Rotary Club, where he served as their club president, membership chairperson, and Foundation Chair. He has been involved with RYLA and is a graduate of The Rotary Leadership Institute.
While living in Iowa, Lee was involved in an international TRF grant that provided 14 wells in South Africa. As a result of that involvement, he was asked by an organization named Blessman International to arrange trips to South Africa to show Rotarians those wells. A follow-up grant has been requested to teach farming methods to the South Africans.
Club members who attended the District Conference enjoyed the opportunity to get better acquainted with Lee and his wife, Roberta. If you see Lee show up at a future Mesa West meeting, make him feel welcome, invite him to sit at your table and take time to get to know him.
