President Connie Bunyard opened the meeting, Jim Erickson led the pledge, and Captain John Birks gave an invocation. Next the club recited the Four-Way Test.

President Connie reminded the club that next week will not have a regular meeting. Instead, we will have a Jared’s Box service project from 5:30-7:30pm at the Salvation Army.
Visitors this week included Robin, who was here a second time, Abigail Dominguez and her two children, and Don, who is considering membership. And some visiting Rotarians were in attendance – John Worth and Trudy Kaiser from Tempe South.
Pam Cohen won today’s raffle. However, she did not draw the Ace of Clubs, so the large pot carries over.

- Jim Erickson was happy to let President Connie know that when he first joined Rotary there was a fine for referring to someone as “Mr” (e.g., if you did not know their first name!)
- Pam Cohen was happy that two prospective members and two Tempe South Rotarians were here today, and to pass around a birthday card for Wendell Jones
- John Worth was happy to visit Mesa West
- Dave Dacus was happy to have visited Sedona last week though sad that he missed this meeting last week
- Captain John Birks was happy to plan for the Kettle Kick Off event for this season’s bell ringing
- Andy Bradford was happy to help Jack Rosenberg lately and announce a speech debate event coming up in October
Today’s speaker was Abigail Dominguez, who is the current Arizona delegate to the Ms. Senior World Pageant. She was born and grew up in Ghana and has worked as a nanny and a preschool teacher. Her father was a Rotarian, so she is familiar with the Four-Way-Test. She is competing in the Ms. Senior World Pageant for women 50-79 (categories are 50s, 60s or 70s). Her platform is “grace at every age”. The pageant honors wisdom, experiences, and incredible accomplishments of mature women. Ms. Senior World has a philanthropic arm called Ms. Senior World Cares. Delegates and titleholders serve communities, support veterans, advocate for senior wellness, and mentor future generations.
