Feed My Starving Children
Mesa West Rotary was well represented at our first 5th Thursday hands-on service project at Feed My Starving Children's Mesa facility on Thursday, August 29, 2019.

It didn't take long for the team to hit their stride with each Rotarian assuming specific responsibilities to keep the bag filling, sealing, and packing accomplished in commendable assembly-line cooperation.

The series of photos in the bottom left documented the transition of one young child in the upper left photo from when he first was seen by volunteers delivering nutrition in a community to the happy healthy child in the lower right.  Nutrition gives hope and enables a future.

Pam Cohen, who organized the service opportunity sent the following message:
"I wanted to thank you all for turning out on a Thursday afternoon to help - it was fun to work with such like-minded members of Mesa West!  Our boxes packed approximately 5,685 meals - or fed 15.6 kids for a year!  For those who couldn’t make it – thank you for your sustained support, there will be more opportunities for service.  You are the best!"

September is Basic Education and Literacy Month

More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population.

Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.
We support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.

THE FOUR WAY TEST of the things we think, say or do

first  Is it the TRUTH?
second  Is it FAIR to all concerned?
third  Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
fourth Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
