World Polio Day is a time for Rotary members, public health advocates, and all who want a world free from polio to come together, recognize our progress in the fight to end polio, and talk about the actions we need to take in order to end polio for good. When we eradicate polio worldwide, it will join smallpox as the second human disease ever eradicated. We’re closer than ever to eradicating polio, but we’re not done yet. We still need funds to continue immunizations and surveillance efforts. All donations are matched 2:1 by the Gates Foundation, tripling your impact! Donate now!
Because of Rotary’s support, nearly 3 billion children have been immunized against polio and are protected for life against this crippling disease.
Rotary and our partners reduced the number of wild polio cases from 350,000 in 1988 to 30 in 2022. Twenty million cases of paralysis have been averted through this global effort.
The wild poliovirus is now endemic in just two countries, and we won’t stop our effort until we’re able to give children a polio-free world.

President Elect Andy Bradford, John Pennypacker led the pledge, and John Bunyard led the club in reciting the Four-Way Test. Pam Cohen won today’s raffle. However, she did not draw the Ace of Clubs, so the large pot carries over. Then, Happy Bucks were collected.
Today’s speaker was Jacob Newman, from Aster Aging in Mesa. To continue, click the blue "Read More" to the right below!!
As Rotarians, we are regularly exposed to opportunities to support various causes with our time, talent and treasure. Sometimes it is hard to sift through all the information and decide where we are going to use our available financial resources.
It would be wonderful if every Mesa West Rotarian would make the following BIG FOUR their Rotary charities of choice and support every one of them every year, we could make a bigger difference than we are making today.
