The Mesa West Rotary Vocational Service Chair, Bryan Goetzenberger, sent the following message recently received from Nick, who received a grant from The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona (TRVFA).  His grant was sponsored by Mesa West Rotary:

"The CNA program went very well, I finished it in October of last year.  I then applied for some jobs and I got hired at Banner Desert!  I started my job at the beginning of December and I've been working ever since and I love it!  I'm working in the progressive care unit, but it's a COVID floor for now.  I plan on working for a while to get a ton of healthcare experience because I want to go to Physician Assistant school and the programs require a certain amount of hours to get in.  I have 3 more semesters of my undergraduate left at Mesa Community college but my degree is going to be from NAU.  That's about it!  Thanks for everything!"

Brian, who has only been our Vocational Service Chair since July 1 said, "It was really great to see firsthand how the grant program can assist individuals in the pathway to a successful career."

When Mesa West sponsors a student, there is no cash commitment from the club.  TRVFA simply wants Rotarians to interview the applicant after their program, residency, and income have all qualified for the TRVFA grant program.  The interview is intended to ensure that the applicant is sincere about their intent to complete the program and is highly likely to succeed.  Nick's grant was for him to attend the Certified Nursing Assistant program at East Valley Medical College.
