Yesterday was "Giving Tuesday". It is celebrated the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Today is the last day of Foundation Month in Rotary. The fact is - there are always going to be compelling reasons to give if you are involved with Rotary.
We are a service organization, but one way to think of our financial donations is that "Money is service in a liquid, transferrable form." We can participate in making good things happen in our entire world through our support of The Rotary Foundation through the Annual Fund and End Polio Now:
- Just $20 protects up to six children for a lifetime from the paralyzing threat of polio.
- A gift of $50 can support sustainable economic development in a community, like a butterfly sanctuary in Costa Rica.
- $50 can provide clean water to help fight waterborne illness.
- $500 can launch an antibullying campaign and create a safe environment for children.
We can participate in helping individuals lift themselves out of poverty by supporting The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona.
We can participate in the charitable activities funded by Mesa West Rotary Foundation.
The key word is "participate." Whether donating time, talent or treasure, it is a simple fact - some can afford to be more generous than others. To participate fully, we need to give what we can when we can and do so as often as we can. If we don't "invest," we are just spectators.
