Mesa West Rotarians,

We have an amazing opportunity to make a difference - and a mark - in our community.  Please join us on Thursday evening (our scheduled 4th Thursday evening meeting) to hear about the ideas that came from our October 10 meeting – these events will be designed to fund our current or specific service projects.  Lucinda has prepared the attached discussion takeaways.  We will all hear about each of these ideas to better determine club member interest.  Bring your creative thinking caps!

I would love to have a couple of you to help take the reins of some of the ideas that are below.  This should be something you are interested in, not necessarily an expert – after all, the whole club will participate!

Race Concept: Open – Maybe Bert could help here.
Running, walking, cycling, swimming. Bed races, Soapbox derby. Could have kids, adults or other special  groups competing. (Teachers vs Lawyers) People who compete expect official timing/records. Firms can be hired that are experienced in this. Entrance fees, drink sales to crowd and XXX as revenue stream

Golf Tournament Concept: John Pennypacker and Jeanie Volunteered to lead this discussion
Hole sponsors, entrance fees, banquet dinner?

Scavenger Hunt Concept:  Dan Coons will lead this discussion
Scavenger Hunt/Road Rally: entrants drive their own car and follow slightly tricky/obscure directions to specific locations, keeping their own time and answering questions that can only be known by visiting that specific location on the map or direction.  Requires driver and navigator as one entrant.  This can end at a meal at a restaurant or picnic and be in conjunction with an antique car show or hot rod show.

Festival Idea:  Chris Krueger and Melodie Jackson volunteered to lead this discussion
There are all sorts of food/drink events – Ribs, BBQ, Wine & Cheese, Lobster fest, Crab boils—on and on. Sponsors offer services/goods for the event or cash donations for the recognition. General admission is free. Income is from sales of food & beverage. Interact could operate a kids area (opportunity for income for them face painting, simple games) City park as venue.

Pony Plop:  Pam Cohen will lead this discussion
Food competitions: Chili, BBQ, Cakes/Cupcakes,

Other events: Rib fest, Spaghetti dinner, Pancake breakfast, Fajita dinner, Art show, home /landscape tour, etc. Bachelor/Bachelorette auction, Generic auction (live & silent)

Please respond to me directly if you would like to help on Thursday presentations.
