President Kayla Mudge opened the meeting, Machel Considine led the Pledge of Allegiance, and John Bunyard gave an Invocation. Don LaBarge’s sister was a visitor today and Don won today’s raffle. Today’s speaker was Joe Trotter who is a retired Navy reactor operator and submariner.

Connie Bunyard collected Happy Bucks and announcements:
- John Pennypacker announced that Paul Harris’s birthday is April 19th
- Ed Koeneman was happy to have met his granddaughter in Georgia last week
- Blaise Vitale was happy to have done a backpacking trip and to do volunteer work
- Dick Myren was happy to donate for himself, Rod Daniels, and Don LaBarge and is happy that family is coming to visit
- Don LaBarge was happy to have his sister in town
- Kayla Mudge was happy to be back this week
- Warren Williamson was happy to tell his weekly joke
Connie Bunyard then updated the club on the Sponsorship Program fundraising and Kayla Mudge made other announcements:
- Month of May - we are collecting twin-size bedding for Sleep in Heavenly Peace
- May 1-2 - the District Conference. There are volunteer opportunities from 3-5pm on Friday, May 1st; Please come to the volunteer event even if you don’t attend the whole conference; non-Rotarians are welcome at the volunteer event too
- May 30th (Saturday) – Rotary Connections (formerly RLI), all sections, will be held in Anthem
Today’s speaker was Joe Trotter, a retired Navy reactor operator and submariner who started as an enlisted person and then became an officer. He told the club about submarine terminology, different types of submarines, and types of training that he underwent. He even explained how they needed to clean the air of CO2 and how the trash was discarded.
