President Kayla Mudge opened the meeting, Warren Williamson led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Dick Myren gave an invocation. There was no raffle today. Jackie Wasik, our AG, was introduced as a guest.
Andy Bradford collected Happy Bucks:
- Dick Myren was happy to donate for himself and Rod; he also said he was very happy to be part of this club and loved the camaraderie
- Harry Grossman was happy to donate, has not shaved since the Cardinals have not won, and he had a nice visit with his nephew
- Jackie Wasik is happy to have rung the bell for the Salvation Army, announced RLI coming up in January, and promoted the District Pop-up learning
- Brian Harvey was happy that Pam organized bell ringing and paid $5 because Steve ate candy while bell ringing
- Blaise Vitale was happy to have gone to a basketball tournament over the weekend
- Pam Cohen donated a fine for herself for forgetting the raffle hat and money
- Colleen Coons was happy that Pam Cohen and Gaby Cutlip had coordinated the holiday wish program for the McKinney Vento students, among other things
- Gaby Cutlip was happy to donate her $5 that she would have spent on the raffle
- John Pennypacker was happy to have had a delightful Thanksgiving in XX
- Ed Koeneman was happy that he and Debbie went to Fort Stewart, Georgia, to see James get promoted to Sergeant and that they got to see the 3D ultrasound of their soon-to-be granddaughter.
- Kayla Mudge was happy to go sledding with her 12-year-old nephew
- Ray Smith was happy that Geof White was at lunch today
- Chuck was happy to donate $5 since he saved money on the raffle
- Jim McGown was happy to auction off tickets to Zoo Lights; the winners pledged $55 and $60, respectively, for two sets of 4 tickets

Next were announcements of upcoming holiday giving:
- Ed Koeneman announced that the club will donate $500 to Aster Aging’s holiday program to provide gifts for seniors
- Gaby Cutlip announced that the club will donate $500 to Emerson Elementary School to fulfill students’ wish lists
- Collen Coons updated regarding the McKinney-Vento/Rotary Builds Bridges program; she noted that gifts for the students have been secured, thanking all club members who donated gifts or money
- Pam Cohen announced that she used the donated money to purchase gifts for the McKinney Vento/Rotary Builds Bridges; she also announced that next Thursday, December 11th, will be a holiday happy hour event (instead of our lunch meeting) and suggested everyone donate $10 to the tip for our server
Today’s speaker was Sarah Kearney, who is the executive director of the Blue Zones Project Scottsdale. To become a Blue Zones Community, Scottsdale will implement well-being improvement strategies across thirteen areas focused on people, places, and policy. The goal is to empower people live better for longer. Blue Zones that have been identified are areas where people live significantly longer and healthier lives. There have been a lot of research studies and documentaries regarding Blue Zones. Common lifestyle principles include having a sense of purpose and belonging, moving naturally (and daily!), reducing stress and rejuvenating ones self, having a plant-forward diet, stop eating when 80% full, using alcohol in moderation and amongst friends, and connecting with others (friends, family, churches, clubs).
