Hi Ace of Clubs!

My name is Machel Considine. I joined Rotary because of my daddy’s good Rotary experience. At his Rotary meeting as a Senior of the Month, I learned about our exchange program from a South African girl who had been on exchange in our town 3 years prior. Cut to the chase, I was selected to go to Hermanus, South Africa on my exchange!  Years later, because I framed a picture at Barb & Abe’s frame shop where I found out women could be in Rotary, I’m a proud Rotarian for 19 years.

“Service Above Self” was modeled to me as a child and I am honored to follow in Daddy’s footsteps when I was asked to be on the RYE district committee 2 years after I joined. Some of my closest Rotary friends have worked with RYE. Our motto “Rotary Youth Exchange is building world peace one person at a time” and it says what every student comes away feeling from their year.

Volunteer wise: I’m the current club Speaker Coordinator, stay-at-home mom (16 yrs), church choir (36 yrs) sorority collegiate national advisor (9 yrs), Experience Corps elementary reading tutor (5 yrs) and a fierce social justice supporter since South Africa!

At home, I’m an avid reader, camper and movie nut. The love of my life, Tom, and I have been married for 42 years. Our four grandchildren are 10, 9, 8 and 6 years old. Two live in OR with our son & daughter-in-law and two live in MN with our daughter & son-in-law. Our family is where our hearts live.

Thanks for letting me join Mesa West RC, I love it here!
