Thirty-three years ago, Omar Mota was living in Mesa, and attending Mesa High School as a Rotary Youth Exchange student.  He would very much like to visit his host club and thank them for their sponsorship of this opportunity.  He graduated from Mesa High School in 1986.  Omar lived with his own uncle during his exchange.  He contacted Mesa West Rotary through our Facebook page hoping that if we were not his host club, we could help him reconnect with the club that actually did sponsor his exchange.

Omar was born in Guaymas, Mexico.  Today, he is an engineer, working for HP in Guadalajara, Mexico.  He is shown in the more recent photo with his 24-year-old daughter and his beautiful wife.

One clue that might help determine the correct host club in Mesa, is that during his exchange, Omar would receive calls periodically inviting him to attend meetings of his host club.  The Rotarian who called him was a naturalized US citizen, originally from Argentina.  Many current members of Rotary Clubs in Mesa were not Rotarians in 1985-86 when Omar was in our community, but it is hoped that by networking with those who were, we will be able to come up with some fun facts to share with Omar.  He's been told that he will be a welcome guest at Mesa West Rotary when he is in our area.

One additional way that we could help Omar is to connect him with Rotarians in Guadalajara.  He is not currently a Rotarian, but has an interest in possibly joining a Rotary Club in Guadalajara.  Any and all information that might help Omar reconnect or to become a Rotarian would be welcome, CLICK HERE to send it to Jeanie Morgan.
