District Grant Helps 7th Street Food Pantry

Hi everyone.  We have a District Grant for $4,000 involving installing a commercial misting system for the 7 Street pantry food bank located at 7st & Broadway in South Phoenix. Greg Okonowski, from our Mesa West Rotary is on the board. This install turned out to be 100 nozzles. The system is stainless steel and covers a 50 ft patio and a 50 ft side area. The system has a limited lifetime warranty.

 

The system is installed where the food bank volunteers work and hand out supplies. Installation included 100 feet of stainless 3/8 misting line, 100 nozzles, 20 feet of stainless misting feed tubing; 10 stainless fittings, high grade misting pump; 2 outdoor ceiling fans for the patio to draw in the cool air; and extensive electrical work to run the fans and the pump. The pump was installed indoors to prevent theft.

 

I used 7 crews, 3 members of Smart Wire commercial electrical company owned by Kelly McKee; 2 members of Mist Air, a commercial misting company owned by Bill Summers, and 2 members of my company, AAA Pressure washers. It took 5 trucks to transport everyone and supplies. The crew started at 8 am and finished at 3pm.

 

This was a good-sized job and normally would cost around $6,000.00 or more. All the companies involved, including suppliers for the companies involved, donated supplies and workers for cost. The final expense will be calculated  within the next week, but all companies have pledged that they will do what it takes to keep the cost at $4,000.00 even if it results in a loss. I did not try and use Rotary members for this install because everything was technical and needed experienced installers so there was really nothing for anyone to do.  Lucinda General and I will finish out the final report to the District.
