Saturday, July 13, nine members of the Mesa West Rotary family travelled to beautiful Sedona, Arizona for the installation of our new District Governor, David Simmer.  Enjoying the getaway were, Allan and Polly Cady, Pam Cohen, Lucinda General, Chris and Mike Krueger, Jeanie Morgan, and John Pennypacker,

Our own Lucinda General was the Past District Governor selected to officiate the swearing-in of David as our District Governor for 2019-20.

A few of those making the trip took advantage of the perfect photo opportunity with DG David's wrapped car in the foreground and beautiful red rock formations in the background.

One of the areas of focus for DG David is utilization of global grant funding to help those in need close to home as well as with projects to meet needs that are often more well-known abroad.  Following the induction, DG David introduced George McGraw of Dig Deep to educate those present about the basic needs for water and electricity he has personally observed in the Navajo Nation. John Pennypacker took a photo of the Rotarian crew who will be supporting the water project Dig Deep is coordinating to bring the life-changing necessities of water and electricity to remote rural homes on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona.  Shown in the bottom right photo are:  Jeff Poynter (Four Peaks RC), Curt Ward (Gilbert RC) John McKoy (Sun Lakes RC),George McGraw (CEO Dig Deep), DG David Simmer, and Gary Whiting (Sun Lakes RC).
