Monday afternoon at above 5:00 PM a parade of vehicles arrived at the home of Bob and Nancy Jensen.  Chris Krueger had coordinated the opportunity for District Governor David Simmer to present Bob with a very prestigious Rotary recognition.

Each year, in the entire Rotary World, nominations are submitted for the Rotary International Directors to review and determine which 150 nominees will be awarded the Service Above Self award for the current Rotary year.  In 2019-20, Mesa's own Bob Jensen was selected as one of the recipients.

Mesa West members and friends are familiar with the Gift of Hearing project that Bob coordinates each year in Guaymas, Mexico.  Chris was able to coordinate having Rotarians and professional volunteers who have helped with the mission in recent years present to see the award presentation.  They were joined by Rotary leaders from District 5495, as well as a few Past District Governors.

Bob was very humble and said that none of it would have happened without all the volunteers who have done the work and coordinated the logistics for the 28 years the Gift of Hearing project has
been a part of his life.

It was kind of hard to tell whether Bob was more excited about the award, the gathering of so many friends during this period of COVID-19 social distancing, or the ice cream truck that arrived with treats for all in attendance.  Seems ice cream is off of Bob's Nancy-approved dietary intake.
