We need to get final numbers for the Saturday afternoon Unique Castronomique Event being held at the home of Pam Cohen Saturday, January 6 from 4-7 p.m. If you have not already made your reservation, please EMAIL Jeanie Morganletting her know the names of all individuals in your party. You will then be invoiced $50 for each reservation. The invoice will provide Pam's home address
Lotte, Olivia, Carlotta and Thilde really want to go on the tour, but - without help - they cannot afford it. They are more than happy to share a bit of their home culinary delights with us in order to put a spotlight on their need for assistance and show their appreciation of our desire to help them.
If you are unable to attend, please consider asking Jeanie to invoice you for a stated amount to support participation of our inbound students for the train tour.
Ron and Toni Thompson will again graciously open their beautiful home for the Mesa West Rotary Club's Post-Holiday Celebration to be held Saturday, January 20 from 4-8:30 p.m.
If you have not yet made your reservation using the link that was emailed directly to you, you can CLICK HEREto RSVP stating the names of all who will be in your party.
It has become a tradition in Mesa West to not compete with celebrations of work, family, friends and other close associations during the holiday season so more of us can celebrate together after the holidays are over.
Those who wish to participate in the "Gift Exchange" should bring a wrapped gift valued at $25. The first-place winner of the Most Festive Outfit will get to select their number for the Gift Exchange. (This last statement is a license to wear an ugly sweater if it is believed to be "most festive".
Those who attend are encouraged to bring appetizers or desserts to share.
A Christmas present promised from AG Dan Coons to our President, Colleen Coons was his handyman services since they had been "blessed" with a plumbing leak during the holidays.
Handy Dan's laundry room became a workout location. Only someone with considerable muscle (or a professional plumber) could use the necessary Pex Expansion Tool. President-Elect Logan Harper became the first to work out in this new workout location and was able to get the expansion tool to successfully accomplish its task. The photo at right shows the result of Logan's effort.
Most workout locations do not provide freshly baked Cinnamon Apple Streusel Bundt Cake, but that is how PE Logan was rewarded.
Mesa West Rotary Club Member Erica Williams recently traveled through Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico with her daughter . As they were driving back through town, her daughter spotted this Rotary tower. Erica had no way of knowing the historical significance, but it appeared to have the names of many different Rotary Clubs,.
It would be nice to know answers to the Who, What, When, Where How and Why questions this very visible tribute to Rotary raised.
It might be fun in 2024, for members who are traveling and see the Rotary Wheel prominently on display, to photograph it and share it in the Messenger - especially if of those answers can be shared with the photo.
If anyone knows anything about this tower in Ensenada, please share that knowledge.
As Rotarians, we are regularly exposed to opportunities to support various causes with our time, talent and treasure. Sometimes it is hard to sift through all the information and decide where we are going to use our available financial resources.
It would be wonderful if every Arizona Rotarian would make the following BIG FOUR their Rotary charities of choice and support every one of them every year, we could make a bigger difference than we are making today.
The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Annual Fund - The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world." The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona (TRVFA) provides vocational education grants to Arizona Residents who meet specific low-income guidelines. The grants enable the recipients to lift themselves out of poverty, benefitting themselves, their families and the economy of our state. TRVFA is a 501(c)(3) charity. They also are a Qualifying Charitable Organization for Arizona Tax Credit Donations. Their QCO Code is 20698. Many Arizona Rotarians say giving to TRVFA is a "no brainer." If you can help someone lift themselves out of poverty and it won't end up costing you anything why would you not do it? Mesa West Rotary has the highest number of members who have signed up for automated monthly recurring donations by electing that option on the "Donate Now" button on the TRVFA website. Click the image to learn more or CLICK HERE to DONATE NOW.
Mesa West Rotary Foundation, Inc. is the funding and fundraising arm of our own Mesa West Rotary Club. It is a 501(c)(3) charity. We have had successful sponsorship campaigns the last few years enabling us to spend our energy on service rather than on holding fundraising events. Charitable grants that we get involved with are funded through our charitable foundation, Our signature Gift of Hearing Project in Guaymas Mexico is funded through this foundation. Scholarships are awarded annually to Westwood High School Students (the high school where Mesa West Rotary sponsors an Interact Club). Funds are used to support a variety of activities in four of the Rotary Avenues of Service:
Community Service
International Service
Vocational Service
Youth Service
The process isn't quite automated at this point in time, but we hope it soon will be. For now, you can email our executive secretary who can help you work out a recurring donation plan should you wish to make that arrangement to support our own club's charitable activity.
